If Jehovah’s Witness “MLM” magazine offers were not a mandatory part of their “service” How would they make$ ?

Question by : If Jehovah’s Witness “MLM” magazine offers were not a mandatory part of their “service” How would they make$ ?
Jehovah’s Witnesses do not ask for any donations for their publications, however, they pay for all of these publications, and literature by themselves, exactly like a Multi-Level-Marketing company does.

The greatest part of their income is generated by the members themselves, and in their kingdom halls, these publications are shipped from Brooklyn New York, worldwide.

If the members do not meet a “valued” amount by a specific time of the month, the elders make an announcement requesting that more funds are needed to fill that literature value, if not, the literature would not be shipped to that specific congregation until that money is sent to the headquarters.

So, basically, the “good news of their kingdom” cannot progress, unless it is paid for by the members.

If the magazines, books, and publications were not paid for by the members themselves, where would their money come from?

Is this required “quota” payment really a form of taxation to the members?

Is this how the first century Christian groups garnered their needed provisions,….by a mandated and required quota system?

Don’t Christians just give to others without cost?

What would happen if the members stopped paying?
Hi Jeli…I was a member for 40 years…there is no “individual quota”, but the congregations are asked to make their value payments for the amount their publishers use…if a member is not able to donate due to sickness, that is a moot subject, because they are not out in service either.

There are usually 2 or 3 “benefactors” in any given congregation that donate a large amount each month to cover any deficits.

The publishers are also expected to “double dip” their payments…pay for them when they pick them up, and donate any funds the are donated at the door. Most of the members also give the car-leader gas money.

The members pay for nearly everything.

most likley like my church the does… By tithing and donations mostly by members…..all of our scriptures magazines pamphlets and stuff we give out to the public is free to the public but us members pay for it by our tithes and other donations… In my opinion those things should be free to all but then reality says how are they gonna pay for the paper and ink and all that?

Why is it even necessary? Is not the written Word of God enough for everyone to find all the spiritual food and salvation that we need? It is for me.
I wonder why these other ‘religions’ need so much man-made material? I think it is a warning sign that they are living by man’s word, instead of the Word of God.
There is no life in those words, so why pay to get them? why not study the Scriptures, as Jesus commanded us all to do? Why are the average Christian afraid to read the actual word of God and instead must substitute man’s word for God’s word?

God said, man shall not live by bread alone, but by EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.

Those pamphlets , sunday-school literature, WT, and all other man-made material is not proceeding out of the mouth of God, but from man. It is DEATH TO THE SOUL.

Only the pure words of god are LIFE.

I say, men are paying for their SPIRITUAL DEATH, because they love darkness rather than light. the Scripture is the LIGHT, AND MEN LOVE THAT DARKNESS OF MAN’S TEACHINGS. OH SURE, THEY deceive themselves into thinking that man’s books is the same as the word of God. NOT FOR ON MINUTE.
Almost every religious person alive, has some ‘man’ they look up to to feed them instead of reading God’s word. It is death to the soul. and this is exactly why no one has the real truth. this is why most believe in the false trinity teaching, others the Jesus-only lie, and others Jesus is not to be worshiped at all… and on and on they go with man’s lies, to the damnation of their soul.
    And they PAY FOR IT.

The real reason these orgs, use man-made literature, instead of God’s word is the same for them all: they KNOW you cannot and would not find their teaching in Scripture, therefore, would not fall prey to their money-making org.
See, no one can read in Scripture, “You must join the JW org for salvation. You must read their WT lit, for your spiritual food. You must follow a certain ‘slave’ class of special folks to find your way spiritually and be ruled over by them. You must not think for yourself, but just lamely follow whatever that special ruling class tells you to do”.

Now where would one find that in Scripture?
    and others:
“you must obey the pope, do all he says, worship the pope and kiss his ring.. go pay a priest and confess your sins to this man, who is just as sinful as you are. But I chose them and you are out of it. so just pay, fess-up and shut up.:”

So they must pump you full of their own theories or they know no one would come in and support them and their money-making schemes.

I am one of Jehovah Witnesses and i have been for the last 4-5 years. Honestly I recommend that next time a Witness goes knocking to your door, ask them this question. I am sure they will reply just what I am going to tell you. Judging by the answers that you have received so far, many people don’t know much about the witnesses. SO instead of asking around, its better to go straight to the source.
There is NO “quota”. Yes we do give donations, but we give what we want, when we want, whenever we can.
Before I was married my parents were having a rough patch. My dad lost his job, we didn’t have any money, we were barely making it through. We didn’t give any money for months, simply because we didn’t have anything to give. The elders never made any announcements.
They still don’t give any announcements saying that money is required to send literature. Trust me. I’m married to an elder. I would know.lol
Most of the time when the elders go up and say how much money there is and where its being used, its to let us know where the money is going. not to tell us we need to give more. And its all Biblical. 2 Corinthians 9:7
Let me know if that answered your question. :)
